Race Information

FRIDAY, MAY 19  

3:30-6:30 Packet Pick-Up and Registration 

SATURDAY, MAY 20

8:00-8:50 Packet Pick-up and Registration

Packet Pick-up will be located inside the school. Race day registration will be available although we have VERY few extra shirts this year, so you may not be guaranteed a shirt. 

Parking is also very limited on race day. The front parking lot will be closed off for the safety of our participants; however the back staff parking lot will be available. We are encouraging families who live close to Chavez to walk, ride bikes, or carpool with others.

8:50    5k participants will gather in the bus lane to start

9:00    5k Fun Run will start

Please be aware that we will have wave starts for both the 5k and 1-mile participants. Because all participants must remain on the sidewalks for the duration of the course, we are asking that those who plan on walking or who have strollers line up at the back. Remember that this is a fun run and the races will NOT be timed.

9:05    One-mile participants will gather in the bus lane to start

9:10    One-mile run/walk will start

Again, for the safety of our participants everyone will remain on the sidewalks along the entire of length of this route. If you plan on walking or have strollers, we ask that you kindly line up toward the back of the group. We will be starting in waves.

10:00-11:00 Race Celebrations

Once you are done with the race, we encourage you to enjoy your post race snacks and stay to enjoy music and mingle with other families. There will be water and fruit provided at the finish line for all participants. Festivities are expected to wrap up between 10:30-11:00.

While the forecast is looking pretty wet, we run rain or shine! Of course safety is the number one priority of our participants. In the case of severe weather (including thunder and lightning), the run will be cancelled. We will be sure to call the race by 7:45 and will post it here on our website and on the Chavez Facebook Page.

Here are the routes for this year. They are the same as in years past. Both courses start and finish at school. They will be well marked again with green and blue route arrows as well as plenty of signage along the way. We’re hoping for great weather and lots of happy families! See you there!

Volunteers Needed!

Calling all Volunteers!

If you’re not looking to run or walk on the day of the Cheetah Chase but still want to participate somehow, we’d LOVE to have your help! We are looking for volunteers to help us out on the course to direct our runners and walkers and help keep them safe. We are also in need of people to help set up and clean up the event. As a reminder, anyone seeking an opportunity to volunteer must have a volunteer application and disclosure signed and on file. If you have already completed one this year, you are good to go!
